Understanding Grief, Building Connections

"At Griefscape, I guide organisations and communities through the landscape of grief, fostering empathy and promoting death, funeral & grief literacy to strengthen client and interpersonal relationships."

Thank You for taking the time to explore what Griefscape has to offer.

My name is Gina Connolly, and I’ve spent over two decades in the funeral industry, intimately acquainted with the grief reactions that accompany the loss of a loved one.

However, my journey has shown me that grief is not limited to death alone; it touches every part of our lives where there is love and care.

Griefscape was born out of my deep connection with the end-of-life care community and my experience holding space for grievers and their carers, each with their own unique responses to loss. Through this work, I've identified significant gaps in the knowledge and support systems available to grieving families.

Furthermore, their care providers have gaps in their knowledge of related services that limit their ability to fully serve others - while maintaining their own well-being.

Over the years, I’ve developed and conducted community education programs related to death and funerals. Now, I’m expanding my horizons to fully support those who, like you, provide essential care in our communities.

Empathy in Action
Navigating Grief Together

The term self-care may have lost some of its weight due to overuse in recent times, but its significance remains undeniable.

Having personally experienced burnout and witnessed its toll on others, I know all too well how easy it is to prioritise everyone else’s needs while neglecting our own.

Like many of us, I’ve fallen into the trap of relentless giving, only to realise that without caring for ourselves, we have little left to offer others.

In learning how to care for others, we must also reserve some of that knowledge and compassion for ourselves, especially as we navigate our own unique grief journeys.

My sincere hope is that through my programs, I not only provide you with the knowledge and tools to cultivate empathy in your work but also help you strengthen your own self-care practices.

When does your care and service end—and the next begin?

Why do we often wait until the hardest moments in life to have important conversations and make necessary plans?

Like many deeply personal topics, discussions around death and grief can feel difficult, yet they have the power to bring comfort and clarity when they are needed most.

What about the funeral?

What about the loved ones left behind?

What about the conversations we wished we’d had sooner?

I have observed that the biggest gap in end-of-life support is - What comes next?

While no one expects a single service to have all the answers, understanding the broader journey of loss can make a profound difference. Griefscape isn’t about making you an expert in every aspect of grief—it’s about helping you empathise with the many challenges the people in your care are facing.

Any extra knowledge beyond your specific role can only add value to the support you provide, fostering deeper connections and a more compassionate approach.

"I want to bridge these gaps with understanding and care. I hope you do too."

Testimonials

"Empathy-driven support that transformed our approach to grief literacy."

"I thoroughly recommend attending one of Gina’s presentations on Death and Dying.

I have found Gina’s presentations have enhanced my toolkit to support clients who are experiencing grief and loss issues within a social work context.

Gina uses a lot of personal stories from her own lived experience from the last 20 years.

Gina’s presentations will enhance your knowledge in the space of death and dying.

We need to start talking about death and understand how to support someone who is experiencing grief and how to show empathy.

Gina’s presentations highlight the importance of funerals and how this impacts families when death occurs, if discussions have not occurred.

Drawing from her unique background in both the funeral industry and education, she brings a wealth of knowledge and sensitivity to the topic of grief and loss.

Gina’s presentations make a complex and often difficult subject accessible and relatable to both corporate & community audiences.

Her insights on grief and loss are invaluable, and she is dedicated to making a positive impact both in the private sector and within the wider community.

I can highly recommend Gina as both a presenter and community leader on this subject."
